BuzzFeed recently gathered a list based on commenters’ opinions, featuring movies many found downright awful. Sure, no film ever pleases everyone, and often we at least stick it out till the end. But here are 10 movies that, according to BuzzFeed, people didn’t even want to finish!
Wonder Woman 2 (Wonder Woman 1984, 2020)
“I loved the first movie. I can happily watch it again anytime. Sure, it had some flaws, but overall it was the Wonder Woman film I’d waited 40 years for. Wonder Woman 1984, however, was terrible and incredibly disappointing. The script was just awful, full of holes,” shared one commenter. Another pointed out that for such a big budget, the film was surprisingly weak and not worth a rewatch.
The Perfect Date (2019)
“I saw Noah Centineo as Peter Kavinsky in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and thought he was great. Then I found The Perfect Date on Netflix, watched about 15 minutes, turned it off, and went back to To All the Boys I've Loved Before.”
The Nice Guys (2016)
“I’ve watched many bad movies all the way through, but this is the only one I just turned off and walked away from. I don’t remember the plot, but I know it was awful.”
Men in Black: International (2019)
“I loved the original and thought this would be fun, but no, it was terrible. Maybe because Thor and Valkyrie played weaker versions of themselves, I don’t know. It was awful.”
The Nun (2018)
Some viewers gave up in the theater: “We walked out after about 20 minutes. I knew it would be terrible, like the other films in the Conjuring universe, but this was just ridiculous.”
The Beach Bum (2019)
“The cast was amazing, but it didn’t help. I watched nearly an hour before I couldn’t take it anymore. It made no sense and felt so unrealistic. I can suspend disbelief on many things, but this was just awful. What a waste!”
Ella Enchanted (2004)
“This was one of my favorite books as a kid, but oh, the movie was terrible,” wrote one commenter. Another added: “I hated the random ’70s musical numbers and the cheesy plot with the evil uncle. Poor Ella was really humiliated!”
Charlie’s Angels (2019)
“I watched about 10 minutes and just couldn’t finish it. I was there for the original TV show. I loved the Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore film—it was amazing—but the 2019 version lacked all charisma and energy... In my opinion, it was just poorly cast.”
Another commenter put it bluntly: “After seeing action stars like Angelina Jolie, Milla Jovovich, and Charlize Theron, the cast chosen for Charlie’s Angels (2019) felt like high school cheerleaders.”
Sausage Party (2016)
“I couldn’t get past the opening song of Sausage Party, let alone halfway through. I love dark, sharp humor. Carlin is one of my favorite comedians. But Sausage Party was just... numbing. I remember feeling awkwardly embarrassed and hoping my roommates wouldn’t hear what I was watching through the walls,” wrote a commenter about this unusual animated comedy.
Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
Last but not least, Fifty Shades of Grey made the list. While many were curious and some enjoyed it, plenty found it terrible and were unimpressed by the book it was based on.
One commenter said: “I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I started the movie, and after about 15 minutes realized how bad it was and turned it off. I gave the book a chance too, but it was just as bad, and I gave up after a few chapters. I don’t get it—it’s just not good.”
Of course, someone out there probably loved one of these movies or at least managed to watch them all the way through. Which one is true for you? And if you haven’t seen any, would you give one a chance?
