"I Thought She Was Bleeding Out, But She Was Just on Her Period"

We’d been dating for six months when she tied me up, and it took another six months before I realized she actually has curly hair. She always straightened it after washing, so I only found out during our first vacation together after the COVID lockdown. I really like her curls—I don’t get why she insists on keeping it straight all the time.

I’m not sure if this is true for every woman, but my fiancée pees with such force that even after years, it still surprises me. She could almost punch a hole in the porcelain with that stream.

After living together for two years, I discovered my girlfriend can sing beautifully. It took that long for her to feel comfortable enough to sing in the shower at my place. If I ask her to sing, she won’t—but when she lets go in the bathroom, her voice is amazing.

I knew my partner was close to her mom, but I never imagined they meet every day—and talk on the phone for hours daily. Whatever decision she has to make or question she has, she always calls her mom first. I don’t think this intense closeness is healthy, and when I brought it up, my girlfriend didn’t speak to me for days.

After moving in together, I found out my girlfriend only watches horror movies. When we were dating, we always chose movies together, but living together revealed her horror fan side. It’s a relief not to have to watch romantic comedies—I get to enjoy the chills with her.

I knew my girlfriend was tough, but I had no idea how much. One evening we play-wrestled, and she used holds, twists, and chokes that left me stunned. Her brother practices jiu-jitsu at a high level, and she learned a lot from him. I’ve always been a bit intimidated, but now I feel calmer knowing she can defend herself if needed.

I had no idea how much blood comes with her period. Once, I walked into the bathroom while she was showering and seriously thought she was injured and bleeding out. I spent the whole day asking if I should take her to the doctor. She still laughs about it, but it shocked me how strong women are to live through this.

Before living together, I didn’t know my girlfriend cries almost every day. She easily tears up at movies, or when she sees a sweet animal or baby. But she really cries daily, almost "intentionally." At first, it scared me—I didn’t know how to handle it—but she explained it helps her release tension. She cries not only when she’s sad but also when stressed or happy—and always feels better afterward. It was strange at first, but now I don’t panic when I hear her crying softly in the bedroom.

I didn’t realize my girlfriend was dependent on medication until a few months after moving in. It took a lot of effort to get her to admit she had a problem, but now we’re working on it together.
