If you’ve ever wondered what could happen if someone ends up in the wrong marriage, Netflix’s newest horror series, I Have a Very Bad Feeling (Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen), might just convince you to do everything in your power to avoid that fate.

Warning: This article contains spoilers!

The series premiered on March 26 and immediately pulls us into a chilling story across eight episodes: Rachel’s wedding is intertwined with an ancient family curse, where one wrong choice could literally cost her life.

Creator Haley Z. Boston builds the story around deep, complex characters. She believes horror lets us explore taboo feelings and experience fears in a real, tangible way. This series doesn’t rely on cheap scares, but the tension and unsettling atmosphere hang over the entire week leading up to the wedding.

Marriage, Love, and the Curse

Known to many as Leonardo DiCaprio’s former girlfriend, Camila Morrone stars as Rachel, alongside Adam DiMarco (also seen in The White Lotus) as Nicky. They play a young couple preparing for their wedding, while Rachel’s family is burdened by a centuries-old curse she’s unaware of.

If Rachel doesn’t marry her soulmate by sunset on her wedding day, deadly consequences await. The series explores what happens when someone rushes into marriage with the wrong person.

Boston drew inspiration from her own experiences and childhood memories. Like many parents, her mother advised her: “Just make sure you don’t marry the wrong person.”

Noteworthy Cast and Creative Team

This series stands out not only for its chilling story but also for its talented cast and creative team: Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ted Levine, Gus Birney, Jeff Wilbusch, Karla Crome, and Zlatko Burić complete the ensemble.

Executive producers include the Duffer Brothers, with directors like Axelle Carolyn among the team.

The Big Wedding Twist

Across eight episodes, it becomes clear that Rachel could fall victim to a deadly curse if she doesn’t marry her true soulmate. The story reveals not only the fragility of Rachel and Nicky’s relationship but also the dark secrets of their family history.

Haley Z. Boston shared that after reading the script’s ending, many viewers reflected deeply on their own relationships—some even ended theirs. It wouldn’t be surprising if more viewers follow suit.

The key moment in I Have a Very Bad Feeling is the wedding itself: Rachel discovers Nicky has lied about many things and isn’t the one for her. Instead of the curse striking her, it begins to sweep through the wedding guests.

Ultimately, Rachel meets her fate by marrying Nicky in hopes of stopping the horrors. But just when you think it’s over, she is reborn from death as the next “Witness,” watching over the victims for generations. The ending is both chilling and moving, inviting us to rethink what marriage truly means.

Let’s Listen to Our Hearts

Watching the first episode, I felt like I’d stepped into the world of the 2019 horror film Ready or Not, but I Have a Very Bad Feeling digs much deeper into psychological layers.

The series’ main message is clear: rushing into marriage with the wrong person can have terrible consequences. Here, the wedding is truly a matter of life and death, a concept that really makes you pause.

If you watch all eight episodes, it’s no surprise if you’re left wary of impulsive decisions—especially when it comes to marriage. And maybe that’s the series’ strongest message: behind the fear and chills lies our own conscience, urging us to make the right choices and listen to our hearts.
