From First Friendships to Starting a Business
British couples typically tie the knot at 26 and buy their first home by 27, according to a fresh study.
Surveying 2,000 people, the study mapped out major life milestones. Most folks share their first kiss at 15 (check out what to expect after your first kiss), and by 17, many meet their first “real” boyfriend or girlfriend.
Sadly, the first big heartbreak usually follows around age 18.
Music lovers attend their first concert at 16, while thrill-seekers hop on their first roller coaster at 12.

Most make their first true friendship at 5, learn to ride a bike at 7, and swim by 8. At 14, they take their first flight and often experience a bone-breaking accident that same year. By 19, they land their first full-time job, but it’s at 20 when they decide their career path. This is also when most start college and take their first solo vacation.
At 23, a lot happens: you’re likely mastering the iron, learning to cook, buying your first car, and leaving your first full-time job — plus, you can expect your first raise this year.
By 26, you’ll share your life with your first pet chosen independently from your parents, and you’ll feel like you’ve found your personal style. At 27, you become an aunt or uncle, welcome your first child at 28, and if you’re starting a business, 30 is the most common age to do it.
Keeping Memories Alive Online
The study also found nearly three-quarters document special moments with photos or videos, and 36% admit to spending hours scrolling through social media to relive those good times.
“Many still vividly remember life’s big moments, even if they happened decades ago,” said Melissa Bentley, Marketing Director at Brioche Pasquier, who commissioned the study.
“We all remember our first love, first job, and first beer — even if sometimes we forget where we put our glasses.”
Even if our memories hold these moments, photos and videos offer a wonderful chance to experience them again.
The survey also revealed that for one in three people, the birth of their first child was life’s most beautiful moment, while only 10% said their wedding day was.
Another 46% spend a lot of time reminiscing.
Accordingly, nearly a third said they’re on social media mainly for photos, videos, and memories.
And three-quarters regret not having more tangible keepsakes from life’s special events.
