Virgo: the detailed deflection
Ask a Virgo how she is and you'll get an extremely thorough answer about everyone else. The dog's vet appointment, her sister's job situation, the leak in the flat downstairs. It sounds like openness. It's a very good hedge, because nothing in it is about her. Virgo's instinct is to turn distress into a task — if there's something to research, label, fix or improve, she isn't technically upset, she's being useful.
She also runs an unusually harsh internal commentary, which means admitting she's struggling feels like admitting she failed at something she should have anticipated. The way through is specificity and patience. Not "you can talk to me," which is too open a field, but "you've done the fixing part, what's the bit that's been keeping you up?" And then saying nothing for long enough for her to answer.
Scorpio: privacy as a reflex, not a punishment
Scorpio knows exactly how she feels. That's the difference. She has catalogued it in detail and decided you don't need the file. This isn't coldness — it's a deep-set belief that information about her inner life is valuable and should only be given to people who have earned it, and the bar moves higher the more exposed she feels. When a Scorpio says she's fine, she's usually saying "not here, and not yet."
Pushing fails badly with her; it reads as prying and the door gets a second lock. What works is proximity without demand. Sit with her, drive her somewhere, cook something, say the thing you noticed once and then let it go. Scorpios tell the truth sideways, late at night, in cars, when nobody's looking at them directly.
