Aquarius: rationalising it into nothing
Aquarius doesn't hide her feelings so much as talk herself out of them. She'll explain, quite convincingly, why the thing that hurt her is statistically unremarkable, why other people have it worse, why it would be irrational to be upset. The explanation is genuine; she believes it while she's saying it. Then three weeks later she's inexplicably flat and can't work out why.
The kindest move here is to refuse the logic argument entirely. Don't debate whether she's entitled to be upset — tell her you'd be upset, and leave the space open. Aquarius often needs permission from outside before she'll grant it to herself.
Why do some people say they're fine when they're clearly not?
Usually because somewhere along the line, not needing anything was the thing that made them safe, useful or loved. It isn't manipulation and it isn't a lack of trust in you specifically — it's a very old habit doing what habits do, which is run automatically at exactly the wrong moment.
Is it pushy to keep asking when someone says they're fine?
There's a difference between interrogating and staying. Ask once, accept the answer gracefully, and then come back another day with something ordinary — a walk, a lift, a shared task — because closed people tend to open sideways rather than on demand. If someone seems to be sinking rather than simply private, say plainly that you're worried and encourage them towards a doctor or a therapist; that conversation is never an intrusion.
