7 Magical November Getaways Perfect for This Time of Year

London is worth visiting any time of year, but November is especially smart—crowds are usually lighter this season. While autumn weather can be gray with limited sunshine, rainy days still offer plenty of chances to explore. Iconic spots like the Tower of London, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben will greet you with shorter lines and smaller crowds than in summer.

Madeira still enjoys mild temperatures around 17-20°C (63-68°F) in November. Prices are friendlier, and the sparkling blue ocean and stunning coastlines remain just as magical as in summer. Funchal’s old town invites you with charming boutiques, cozy cafés, and delicious restaurants. Hiking lovers will find plenty of trails and breathtaking viewpoints. And if you’re a fan of Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, the CR7 Museum is a must-visit on weekdays.

November in Reykjavík is typically chilly, around 0-5°C (32-41°F), with about an hour of daylight daily. Still, it’s a fantastic time to visit. You have a better chance of catching the Northern Lights, and with warm layers, you can enjoy whale and dolphin watching or even helicopter tours that explore Iceland’s volcanic history.

Seville’s stunning architecture and top-notch tapas bars make it a must-see at least once. Visit in November to enjoy warm autumn hues and far fewer tourists than in summer. Explore the famous Palacio de las Dueñas, Basilica de la Macarena, and take a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride. Don’t miss the lively El Jueves flea market on Thursdays or the magnificent Seville Cathedral, the world’s largest Gothic cathedral.

Thanks to its proximity, I’ve visited Vienna multiple times in autumn and winter—and it never disappoints. The elegant architecture shines year-round, with palaces, museums, and galleries worth exploring (my personal favorite is Schönbrunn Palace). Plus, the city offers fantastic restaurants and cafés. From mid-November, you can dive into the magical atmosphere of Vienna’s Christmas markets.

Rain or shine, Florence is packed with amazing experiences throughout November! Admire beautiful buildings, sculptures, and fountains without the crowds. Wander a bit off the beaten path to discover many wallet-friendly restaurants and cafés.

Last but not least, Edinburgh is especially atmospheric in November. Explore its breathtaking castles, join exciting underground tours—including some spooky ones—and as the month ends, enjoy fantastic Christmas markets. And if you’re nearby, a trip to discover Loch Ness is definitely worth it.
