Online Mission
Born in London in 1991 and raised in Milan, Carlo didn’t just see the web and programming as hobbies. He used these tools to bring people closer to Christianity online. So much so that among his peers, he became known as the "God influencer," spreading the message of the Gospel through digital platforms.
Early Yet Deep Commitment
Carlo passed away from leukemia in 2006 at just 15 years old. Despite his youth, his life resembled that of a saint: daily prayers, adoration, regular Mass attendance, alongside programming, sports, and play—always carrying a spirit of service.
Two Recognized Miracles
For someone to be beatified and then canonized, the Catholic Church must recognize miracles attributed to them. In Carlo’s case, two miracles have been acknowledged: one in 2020, when a Brazilian child recovered from a rare pancreatic developmental disorder after his mother prayed to Carlo.
Then in 2022, after a severe cycling accident involving a Costa Rican university student in Florence, the Church recognized a miracle. Despite serious mental and physical injuries, the young person’s condition dramatically improved after his mother visited Carlo’s tomb and prayed there.

Official from September 7
The ceremony originally planned for April 27 was postponed due to the Pope’s passing. The new date is September 7, 2025. The Holy Father is expected to canonize Carlo in Rome, likely at St. Peter’s Square, making him the first saint of his generation.
A Contemporary Role Model with Symbolic Meaning
Carlo’s story resonates with today’s youth who grow up with the internet, video games, and social media. Recent pilgrimages of thousands of young people in Paris showed the power of shared faith—beyond Carlo’s simple likability, he was authentically human. His everyday outfit was blue jeans and black Nike sneakers, living a simple life with extraordinary dedication.
Many see the fact that an American Pope will canonize a young person from the new generation as a historic moment.
Some believe this shows the Church is embracing modern communication channels in the digital age—Carlo is proof that Catholicism’s mission in the 21st century reaches future believers through the digital network.
Carlo Acutis symbolizes the life of modern saints: not from elite circles, yet through his digital skills and youth, he impacted thousands worldwide. If officially canonized on September 7, it won’t just add another name to the list of Catholic saints—it will prove the Church can keep pace with a changing world.
