There’s nothing quite as disappointing as going up to someone’s place for the first time after a few great dates, only to see something that puts an immediate end to the spark. Interesting…

Toiletries

He said he hadn’t been with anyone for years because he was waiting for The One. I went up to his place and in the bathroom, right next to the sink, there was a woman’s makeup bag stuffed with cosmetics. On the washing machine, rows of lipsticks, blushes, and powders were neatly lined up. I said nothing, just mentioned I forgot about a meeting and left fast. As soon as I reached the bus stop, I blocked him.

Romantic

He led me to the bedroom, where on the nightstand was a framed photo of him kissing a girl. Turns out, she was his girlfriend.

Breath

I visited a girl and after an hour, I noticed someone was under her bed — a man. I only realized it when she went to the kitchen for some wine and I heard breathing in the silence. I wanted to confront him, but she stopped me. It turned out he wasn’t a creepy ex but her partner, and this was their kink. I left immediately, though they barely let me go.

Girl with a confused expression

Cloud of Dust

On the smoking table, there were piles of colorful pills, a suspicious heap of white powder, lines, a pipe, and aluminum foil. When he noticed me looking, he just shrugged and said he hoped it wasn’t a problem for me. Since I had zero interest in dating someone involved with drugs, it was definitely a problem.

Piles

I never thought I’d see this in person, but the guy was a hoarder. He said he inherited the house from his parents, and the whole vibe was like those TV shows where hoarders get help. Everywhere was piled high with junk, some rooms had stuff stacked to the ceiling, and the kitchen had a narrow “path” through the clutter. The whole house smelled strongly of cat urine. After recovering from the shock, I ran.

Adult Zone

In his “office,” three laptops sat on the desk, all playing porn, and a dozen sex toys were scattered across the carpet.

Oops

Another woman was lying on the couch watching TV when we walked in. For a few seconds, all three of us just stared in shock, then she jumped up, started hitting the guy, and yelled, “You’re bringing sluts into my apartment again!” He shouted back, asking why she was home when he was supposed to be away for two weeks. I could still hear their fight after I was already outside.

Female portrait

Faith

Every wall was covered with crucifixes, so many crosses everywhere! Just in the small entryway, I counted eight while taking off my coat. The kitchen had about 30, and the living room had at least twenty per wall. And when I asked if he was religious, he said no.

The Stains

At first, I noticed a strong musty smell, then I saw that every wall in her apartment was covered with huge black mold stains. The bathroom wall was almost completely black. I told her this was seriously harmful to health and made the place unlivable, but she just shrugged and said she was used to it.

The Guy’s a Bit Weird

After three amazing dates, I was totally into him and couldn’t wait to get to the bedroom. Then I walked into his apartment and couldn’t believe my eyes. Dozens of sticky fly traps hung from the ceiling in every room. And every disgusting brown strip was covered in dead flies, some so packed that you couldn’t even see the strip. And this was in the middle of winter, when there shouldn’t be any flies! How long had these revolting things been hanging there?! Needless to say, my sexual enthusiasm vanished instantly. I told him I felt sick from something I ate and went home.
