Aquarius: the project you quietly abandoned
Aquarius starts things with real conviction and then moves on when the idea stops being interesting, which is usually around the unglamorous middle. There's something from this year — a course, a side project, a half-written something — sitting in a folder, generating a low hum of guilt every time it's scrolled past.
The honest options are two, and both are respectable: finish a deliberately smaller version of it, or formally let it go. What drains an Aquarius is the third option, which is leaving it undead. Delete the folder or book the hour. Either is closure.
Why does the end of the year make unfinished things feel so loud?
Partly it's practical — darker evenings, fewer distractions, more time indoors with your own thoughts — and partly it's the way we're culturally trained to treat January as a clean line. Anything that will have to be carried across that line starts asking to be dealt with now. The feeling isn't a warning; it's just your attention returning to something it parked.
What if I don't have the energy to resolve anything right now?
Then don't, and say so to yourself clearly rather than drifting. Choosing to postpone something until spring is entirely different from avoiding it, because a conscious postponement stops costing you background energy. And if what you're carrying feels heavier than a loose end — if it sits on your chest most days — that's worth talking through with a professional rather than a star chart.
