I’m Not Always Available Anymore — And That’s Totally Okay — Lifestyle
In this article

As a 30-year-old woman, I increasingly feel like I have to be constantly available to everyone: at work, for my friends, my family, and sometimes even strangers reaching out on social media.

A few months ago, I realized something was off; I was tossing and turning at night and battling almost constant fatigue. My mind kept racing with everything I still needed to handle and who was waiting on me, while my body and mind begged for some peace. That’s when I decided it was time for a change.

Why Restructuring Matters

First, I had to learn to say no. It wasn’t easy—I’ve always been the type to gladly help others in need. But I realized that if I constantly put everyone else’s problems first, I’d end up burned out sooner or later.

Setting Boundaries

I had to set clear boundaries between work and my personal life. My partner and I created a routine where, after a certain time in the evening, we put our phones away and focus on each other instead. This shift brought huge positive changes and helped me truly enjoy our time together again.

Finding Myself Again

I started dedicating more time to myself. Every day, I make an effort to carve out moments for activities that bring me joy—whether it’s reading, exercising, or simply taking a peaceful walk in the nearby park.

These moments for myself recharge me and help me feel energized again.

Harmony Between Health and Soul

I’ve come to understand that it’s okay not to be available all the time. My life has become much more balanced since I honestly accepted this for myself. I had to admit I can’t meet everyone’s expectations—and that’s perfectly fine. My health and inner peace are what truly matter, and I’m not willing to sacrifice them.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by daily tasks and expectations, don’t hesitate to take time for yourself. The world won’t fall apart if you step back for a day or a weekend. Plan a day just for your own needs, and you’ll see how refreshed your mind and body will feel.
