That’s when cellulite tends to show up here and there. There are plenty of tricks out there, but their effectiveness varies from person to person. I’m sharing what worked for me and what didn’t make a difference.
Luckily, my skin’s genetic background is pretty good: during pregnancy, I didn’t get a single stretch mark, my belly bounced back nicely, and even though I’m in my early thirties, I’ve avoided the classic signs of aging—no deep wrinkles, uneven skin texture, or distracting pigmentation. But one thing has stubbornly stuck around: cellulite. It’s always been there—right on my thighs, both of them. Thankfully, my belly and other areas are clear, but my legs seem sensitive to it—maybe that’s my "weak spot." Every year, I try new methods. Some bring noticeable changes, while others simply don’t work for me.
What Worked: Anti-Cellulite Creams

I love body lotions, so in summer I pick ones packed with skin-renewing, firming, anti-cellulite ingredients, collagen, and vitamin C. I don’t think you need to overdo the creams or expect instant results—let’s be honest, massaging won’t magically melt cellulite away overnight. But if you’re patient and don’t expect a miracle immediately, these products can really make a difference—at least in my experience.
What Worked: Body Wrapping

Since I’m lucky to work from home, it doesn’t really matter how I look during the day when I don’t have to meet anyone. So I simply massage anti-cellulite creams and gels into my thighs and wrap my legs with several layers of cling film. Body wrapping is super helpful because it boosts circulation and makes creams even more effective. Especially warming products that heat the area, aiding detox and reducing cellulite.
What Worked: Cutting Sugar and Drinking Plenty of Water

People often say that creams, treatments, and tricks only enhance results—the real foundation is always diet and exercise. No matter how expensive or advanced a product is, if your lifestyle isn’t right, cellulite will keep coming back. I can confirm this: when I indulged in too many pastries and treats, collagen creams barely helped.
Last summer, I pushed myself to cut out sugar completely for weeks and aimed to drink 3-4 liters of water on days I stayed home. The impact on my cellulite was incredible. Not only did it shrink, but the skin on my thighs became almost completely smooth. Staying well-hydrated keeps skin elastic and helps flush out toxins, which fades cellulite. Cutting sugar reduces inflammation and collagen breakdown, leading to firmer, smoother skin. This combo really worked for me.
What Didn’t Work: Body Scrubs

They say various store-bought or homemade scrubs can reduce cellulite’s appearance. Maybe for others, but not for me. I mixed two tablespoons of ground coffee with one tablespoon of olive oil and massaged it into my skin before bathing. Coffee scrubs are supposed to boost circulation, remove dead skin cells, and firm cellulite areas. I scrubbed my thighs vigorously for days, but nothing happened. That said, I know people for whom this works great—my best friend swears by it, while collagen lotions didn’t do much for her.
What Didn’t Work: Contrast Showers

Many swear by contrast showers for fighting cellulite—switching between hot and cold water on affected areas to boost circulation and reduce cellulite. Maybe I did it wrong, but it didn’t do anything for me except feel really uncomfortable. It felt like a thousand needles pricking me, and my skin ached. Maybe that’s the point, but it just didn’t work for me.
What Didn’t Work: Sitz Baths

While sitz baths alone aren’t necessarily effective against cellulite, they’re said to be great as a complementary treatment. The idea is to add 10 drops of anti-cellulite essential oils like grapefruit, rosemary, or juniper to a warm bath and wait for the effects. These oils supposedly support fat breakdown and refresh the skin. I admit, I felt refreshed and cheerful after the bath, but beyond that relaxing experience, it didn’t offer much extra for me.
If you’re battling cellulite, it’s worth spending some time figuring out what really works for you and what doesn’t. Don’t get discouraged if a few tricks fail—keep trying and explore new options! Eventually, you’ll find the method that works best for your cellulite.
