Desperate Housewives was not just a series. Generations grew up with it, and somewhere, perhaps we all saw a bit of ourselves in it, whether it was the secret-whispering girlfriends, the wives who appeared perfect on the outside but were uncertain inside, or the overwhelmed mothers. Now, when many thought the story had come to an end, it turns out a reimagined version is in the works.
We Can Expect a Truly Modern Series
What we already know about Wisteria Lane is that it is expected to approach all the dramas, secrets, and suburban scandals that made the original series cult from a fresh perspective - writes indy100.
In other words, Wisteria Lane is expected to be not just a nostalgic look back but a modern series tackling social issues that sheds new light on the hidden side of suburban life. The effects of social media and the digital world, as well as the dynamics of new characters, promise us a fresh and exciting experience.
There Is Still Much Speculation
Few details are known about the new version of the series so far, but it is already certain that Disney Onyx Collective is developing it, and Kerry Washington will be one of the executive producers.
The Wisteria Lane script is written by Natalie Chaidez (she is also behind the thriller The Flight Attendant starring Kaley Cuoco). Although according to reports, Marc Cherry, the creator, head writer, and executive producer of Desperate Housewives, is not officially credited in the project’s presentation, some sources suggest he might still have a say in the series’ development.
In a previous statement, Marc Cherry recalled his years with the series by saying that his favorite "character" to write about was actually Wisteria Lane itself.
“The character I miss writing about the most is actually Wisteria Lane; it was the most fun playground anyone has ever had in television history.”

Could Eva Longoria Return?
Although the series will feature a new cast, Eva Longoria, who brought Gabrielle Solis to life, has already publicly expressed her desire to return. At the end of April, Longoria was a guest on the show Watch What Happens Live, where she revealed: she would be "the first to sign" for a new season of Desperate Housewives but also added that she thinks Cherry does not share this enthusiasm - reported Decider.
“(Marc) feels that we got everything out of these characters. It wasn’t like Sex and the City, where they made 6-8 episodes a year. We shot 24 episodes a year for ten years.”
The actress jokingly also noted:
“There simply aren’t any more people on the street for my character to sleep with. She’s slept with everyone, just like Nicollette Sheridan’s character.” - she laughed.
The New Series Is Already Attracting Great Interest
Of course, fan reactions have not been absent either. Comments arrived quickly and passionately, some of which indy100 highlighted. One fan remarked: “If no one cheats on their partner with the gardener in the first episode, I won’t watch.”
Another commenter, in a nostalgic mood, wrote: “Oh, wow! I hope it’s good, but it will never live up to the original, wonderful Desperate Housewives! I miss them so much, I always rewatch it - this comedy is priceless!” Many others also expressed their excitement for the continuation.
