Chernobyl or space?

We will never know exactly how many people died in the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, partly due to Soviet secrecy and partly because of the immeasurable cancer cases, as it is impossible to say exactly which illnesses can definitely be linked to radioactive radiation. The direct victims of the explosion were 31, while in space so far 21 astronauts have lost their lives. Of these, three were American and two were Russian accidents, and this number is not that high when we consider the dangers of space travel.

Minamata or Libby

The cause of Minamata mercury poisoning was a Japanese chemical factory that discharged mercury into the river between 1932 and 1968. The contaminated fish were consumed by the population, and about 10,000 people suffered mercury poisoning. The Libby asbestos tragedy occurred in Montana, where thousands fell ill due to the vermiculite mine between 1920 and 1990, when people inhaled asbestos-contaminated air. The Minamata tragedy claimed 900, and the Libby tragedy 694 lives.

Disneyland or Disney World?

Disneyland is located in California, Disney World in Florida, and both entertainment centers are paradises for children and even adults. Since both places receive tens of millions of visitors annually, deaths naturally occur. These can be due to illness or accidents, but there have also been murders and suicides. So far, 27 people have died at Disneyland, and 64 at Disney World.

Black Friday or Astroworld

Black Friday discount day is becoming increasingly popular here year by year, but in America it has a long tradition, and people really fight to get certain products at discounted prices. The Astroworld tragedy was a 2021 event where the crowd panicked at rapper Travis Scott's concert. Here, 10 people died, but Black Friday stampedes have claimed 17 lives so far.

Hiroshima or Chicxulub?

When the atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, nearly one hundred thousand people died instantly, marking history's "deadliest minute." However, the most destructive day for Earth's living beings was the Chicxulub asteroid impact, which wiped out most life on Earth 66 million years ago, including the dinosaurs.

The 1931 floods in China claimed about 4 million lives, while the coronavirus claimed 1.2 million lives in the United States.

911 or Titanic

The September 11 terrorist attacks shocked the world. The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center collapsed, and a plane also crashed into the Pentagon building. The Titanic sank in 1912, which was also such an event that we still speak of it with deep emotion today. But which disaster claimed more lives? The September 11 attacks killed 2,977, while the Titanic tragedy claimed 1,503.

First or Second World War?

40 million people lost their lives in the First World War. One would think humanity learned from this, but shortly after came the Second World War, which claimed 75 million victims.
