“A man wanted to enhance his manhood with hyaluronic acid”

I’ve performed hundreds of breast surgeries in my career. Once, a woman burst into my office months after her surgery, crying, asking "What have you done to me?" She showed me her breasts, which were actually perfect, but she screamed that they looked uneven. I told her I thought they looked beautiful, but she became even more upset and demanded I fix it immediately.

I advised her to sleep on it because there was no reason for another surgery. I gave her my mobile number, and she sent several crying, pleading, and threatening messages. I was sure I wouldn’t operate again because she was unstable (and her breasts were truly flawless). She didn’t contact me again until a year later, when she sent a calm email apologizing. She explained her husband had left her, and she was on medication causing erratic behavior. She caused me many sleepless nights, but I was glad she found peace in the end.

Early in my career, I injected hyaluronic acid into a woman’s nasolabial fold—the crease running from the nose to the mouth corner. She left happy but called a few days later, claiming I’d ruined her face. I couldn’t see any problem, so I brought her in urgently. She looked fine, but holding a mirror, she pointed to where the filler looked “bumpy and uneven.”

I offered to dissolve the filler, but she said she didn’t trust me, called me a quack, and demanded her money back. I refunded her. A week later, chatting with colleagues, I mentioned the case. They all asked simultaneously, “Was it Xénia?” It was. Laughing, they said she’s a notorious scammer who’s played dozens of doctors to get free treatments. Since then, I keep a blacklist of patients I won’t book.

I operated on a young 25-year-old woman’s nose. She had a bump that had bothered her since childhood and a slight crookedness, which I corrected. Aside from size and bump, I didn’t change the shape, as agreed. The surgery went well, with a subtle but definite improvement to facial harmony. She came back twice, crying, wanting to reverse it all because she missed her old nose. I explained I couldn’t restore the bump or crookedness, but the change was minimal and her appearance hadn’t drastically changed. She sobbed that she didn’t recognize herself anymore, saying it wasn’t her face and that I had stolen it.

A 68-year-old woman came to me wanting to look younger but refused surgery. So, only injectable treatments were possible. I explained that drooping skin can’t be fixed with injections—only a facelift helps. We agreed on a few units of Botox and some filler, but I warned her not to expect miracles. A month later, she returned unhappy, saying, “You promised I’d look 20 years younger, but nothing happened.”

A woman in her fifties wanted to lift her breasts with bio threads, which she said had “breastfed four children.” Threads only lift the face—and only minimally and temporarily—and she didn’t understand that they wouldn’t help her severely sagging breasts. She called me an untrained and uninformed doctor.

A severely overweight woman wanted Aqualyx fat-dissolving injections for “her whole body.” I explained this treatment only works on very small, thin fat layers—about the size of a palm—and requires multiple sessions. (She weighed around 120 kg.) I told her Aqualyx wouldn’t be effective and didn’t even charge for the consultation. She seemed to understand but later left a Google review claiming I humiliated her femininity and that she’s been depressed since.

At least twice a year, a woman comes in with overly filled lips, demanding even more filler. I never comply, but the problem is these women keep going until they find someone who will do it.

Some plastic surgery addicts lose touch with reality and become “overfilled” with hyaluronic acid. One patient came in complaining her face was asymmetrical and asked me to dissolve filler on one side. When I inserted the fine needle, gel-like filler literally flowed out of her face. My assistant and I just stared in disbelief.

I had a regular patient who always asked to pay in installments and sometimes only paid months later, but eventually paid with difficulty. She constantly demanded discounts and was never satisfied. Once, I performed treatments worth about $1,900 (650,000 HUF) all at once. At the end, she suddenly hugged me, said she’d transfer the money, and I never saw her or the payment again.

Some women need a psychologist more than cosmetic procedures. They cry as they share work troubles, heartbreaks, and parenting challenges. I care for their souls as well as their faces. The problem arose when several patients started contacting me with personal issues—even on weekends or at night—as if I were their friend or therapist. It wasn’t easy, but I learned to set clear boundaries.
