This is How Your Bathtub Will Always Shine: 4 Professional Cleaning Tips — Household
In this article

Cleaning the bathroom is a challenge for almost everyone, especially when the focus is on the bathtub. For many, this is not just a trivial household chore but a real source of stress, as achieving sparkling cleanliness requires a lot of time and energy. However, with a few simple yet effective tricks, you can significantly ease your task and maintain a hygienic environment in the long term.

1. Use a Natural Cleaner!

Many believe that strong chemical cleaners are the only effective solution to remove stubborn dirt from the bathtub, but natural alternatives are often not only just as effective but also more environmentally friendly and healthier.

The combination of vinegar and baking soda is a classic cleaning miracle.
- First, mix half a cup of baking soda with enough water to make a paste, then apply it to the deposits in the tub.
- Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then rinse with vinegar, which fizzes and removes dirt and limescale.

Olive oil and lemon juice are another great natural mixture that not only cleans but also gives surfaces a wonderful shine.
- Mix one tablespoon of olive oil with two tablespoons of lemon juice, then apply it to the tub with a sponge.
- Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then wipe with a clean cloth. The result is a shiny, dirt-free surface.

2. Use a Microfiber Cloth Instead of a Rag

Microfiber cloths are one of the fantastic inventions of the modern age that significantly ease household chores. These special cloths are not only more effective than traditional rags but can also trap dust and dirt, so you need less cleaner and might even spare your elbows. They are especially useful if you want to spend less time cleaning the bathtub while still achieving professional results.

It is advisable to regularly replace or wash microfiber cloths, as their material can become vulnerable to dirt if not cleaned for a long time. You can clean them in the washing machine, but preferably do not use fabric softener, as it can damage the microfibers.

3. Always Wipe After Bathing!

It is not enough to clean the bathtub occasionally; for long-term cleanliness, prevention must also be considered. As soon as a bath or shower ends, it should become a habit to dry the tub or even immediately wipe it down with a quick cleaner after stepping out. This prevents limescale and soap residue from settling on surfaces.

Although bathroom fans primarily serve to reduce humidity, they also contribute to keeping the bathtub clean in some respects. Regular air exchange reduces the chances of mold and mildew growth. So when you are not using the bathroom, try to help the room dry completely by turning on the fan.

4. Act Immediately Against Limescale and Mold!

Sometimes the wear caused by chemicals deposited in the tub or the effects of limescale may not seem obvious, but over time these can become serious problems. If you notice mold starting to form along the grout or the edge of the tub, remove it immediately to avoid further damage. You can prevent mold from spreading with a sponge and possibly some vinegar.

It is also important to regularly combat limescale, as it not only disfigures the tub but in extreme cases can clog the plumbing. Use special limescale removers or the mentioned vinegar method continuously. Do not neglect repairing smaller damages either, as water can easily seep into small cracks and cause further damage later.
